We believe children are at the centre of their learning and learn best through play. Our staff are committed to ensuring all children are happy and successful. We recognise that every child is a competent learner who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured. Children’s attitudes and dispositions to learning are influenced by feedback from others; we use encouragement to support children in developing a positive attitude to learning. Our Foundation Stage recognises that
“Every child is a unique child who is competent learner who can be resilient, resourceful, reflective, take risks, and can form successful relationships”.
We recognise that the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending the children’s development. Foundation Stage have their own outdoor area which children have access to at all times and during all seasons of the year. We plan activities and develop resources both inside and outside,
enabling the children to develop in all the areas of learning.
Here at Marlborough our Early Years Foundation Stage consists of Nursery Morning Sessions and Reception Class. We act as a unit where older children become fantastic role models for the younger ones. There are 2 key groups in each class. Each child has their own key person who they can relate to and rely on. A key person will oversee your child’s learning and development, they aim to build a special, nurturing relationship with your child.
We have a large outdoor area and calm indoor area with natural décor. Our learning spaces allow children to be independent individuals and are set up in different areas to allow full curriculum coverage.

Outdoor Learning
Outdoor learning has a positive effect on the children’s development, being outdoors offers the children further
opportunities to explore, use their senses, develop their language skills and be physically active.
Here in Early Years we value the importance of outdoor play and will go out whatever the weather.
We will provide welly boots and waterproof clothing. We have a large outdoor area and access to Forest School where we love to explore and deepen our
understanding of the world while developing valuable physical and communicational skills..
We love nothing more than jumping in puddles and hunting for minibeasts.
The children also play a huge part in tending to our allotment where they learn about growth over time and seasonal changes.
